Northumbria Police -including Winton Keenen and other former and present officers – have been behind the most shocking as well as sophisticated cover up in the 1999 unsolved attempted murder of undercover agent Martin McGartland.
Since 1999 Northumbria Police, including the present Chief Constable Winton Keenen and other officers (while colluding and conspiring with the Home Office, MI5 and special branch) to cover up IRA involvement in the 1999 hit on Martin McGartland. To date, 22 years on, Winton Keenen and Northumbria Police have never publicly confirmed IRA involvement in the attempted murder.
Martin McGartland has said; Winton Keenen and other corrupt officers within Northumbria Police have – for the past 22 years – been covering up for the terrorists who tried to murder me outside my home in June 1999. They have have also been protecting and covering up IRA involvement in my shooting during that time and to this very day. Winton Keenen nor Northumbria Police have never admitted to me as the victim – nor have they ever confirmed publicly – that the IRA was behind the attempt on my life. All that Winton Keenen, Northumbria Police (including their corrupt heads of Crime and PSD) have done is lie, cover up, obstruct, protect the force and botched, failed to investigate and or whitewash complaints made against them.
Winton Keenen and other senior officers have also been accused of blocking and covering up an external ‘review’ report and findings into the Northumbria Police investigation of the Martin McGartland shooting.
Martin McGartland has said; Winton Keenen and others within his inner-circle have been blocking the disclosure of the external police review report and findings from me. They have also not acted on many of the external force recommendations. All of which is being done to protect not only themselves but also their corrupt friends and former bosses. I am once again calling on Winton Keenen to disclose a copy of the external review report and the full findings to me without any further delay. And to disclose that report and the full findings without deletion, amendment or redactions.
The smearing of Martin McGartland by Northumbria Police within minutes of the shooting also continues to be covered up by Winton Keenen, his inner-circle and also his extremely corrupt PSD and others. Within minutes of the shooting Northumbria Police – from the very top – ordered and began a smearing campaign against Martin as he was fighting for his life, and at a time when Northumbria Police and others believed he would not survive the attempt on his life. Northumbria Police corrupt top brass ordered their press office and press officers to brief the press / media ‘Off the record” that the shooting had absolutely nothing at all to do with the IRA. And that it was connected to a local dispute between feuding drugs gangs. They also ordered their press office and officers to tell the press ‘On the record’ that Northumbria Police were ‘keeping an open mind’ and that it was ‘too early’ to speculate.
Martin McGartland said; The reason for the Northumbria Police smearing of me was two fold: The first being that they (and MI5) had in fact been responsible for exposing me, my identity, and also my whereabouts to the world including, to the IRA, during their 1997 flawed and malicious prosecution which they (and the CPS and MI5) had cooked up, taken against me – for which I was acquitted – and thereby placing me in grave danger from the IRA. And since the 1997 court case – and up until the shooting in June 1999 – Northumbria Police had been stating publicly that I was not in any danger from an IRA attack (Special branch, MI5 even told me that the IRA would not be able to target me on the mainland). The second, that The Blair Government (and Home Office) and MI5 were protecting and covering up for IRA involvement in my shooting. Northumbria Police, special branch, MI5 and the British Government conspired to cover up for IRA involvement and that included smearing me with their false claims and lies of my being shot because of drugs. All the while they had been fully aware (very soon after my shooting) that the IRA had tried to murder me. To this very day – and almost 22 years on – the Northumbria Police (including Winton Keenen), special branch, MI5 and British Government cover up in my case continues. And that also includes the smearing of me as well as the cover up of that too. Winton Keenen, Northumbria police and subsequent heads of PSD have obstructed, failed to thoroughly or properly investigate complaints I have made about the smearing of me during the previous 22 years and that has resulted in spectacular whitewashes , botched and flawed ‘investigations’ – including by the IPCC and IOPC – all to protect and cover up for themselves and for the force. PSD and Northumbria police is a complete cesspit of corruption where I and my cases are concerned.
As the twenty second anniversary of Martin McGartland’s unsolved attempted murder approaches he is once again calling on Winton Keenen to admit publicly that the IRA had been involved in his attempted murder.
Winton Keenen has been at the very heart of Northumbria Police cover up and corruption in my cases for the past 13 years. He has lied time and time again, he has been party to botched ‘investigations’ and he has been at the coal-face of the covering up of information and reports relating to my cases. He is (and has been for the past 8 years or more) obstructing and blocking an independent investigation into my unsolved attempted murder. A reason for this – I am clear- is because Winton Keenen is covering up the Northumbria Police 22 years of corruption and the cover up (including by him) in my cases. And he is protecting Northumbria Police as well as former and present officers involved and that includes a number of his own former bosses. I am once again calling on Winton Keenen to appoint an external, independent third party to investigate my 22 year unsolved attempted murder. And for him, Northumbria Police to completely remove themselves (both directly and indirectly) from my case, says Martin McGartland.
Martin McGartland says that he believes that his case could (and should) have been detected soon after the attempt on his life.
If not for the very serious corruption -and the eye-watering and deliberate failing by Northumbria Police – in my attempted murder case as well as the interference in it I am in no doubt that those who tried to murder me would have been arrested and been convicted a long time ago. The reason why that has never happened – and I am clear about this – is because of corruption by Northumbria Police, its officers as well as its crime department. I also believe that those who tried to murder me are already known to Northumbria Police, special branch and MI5 (and have been since year zero) but that they are being protected from investigation and from justice because they are state informers / agents. I also believe that because of the damage caused to my case and the (botched) Northumbria Police ‘investigation’ that no one will ever be convicted of my attempted murder. I also believe that was intentional by not only Northumbria Police but also those involved in the conspiracy between them and special branch, MI5, Home Office and other state agencies.
